Diving season mainly from July to September. There was a huge quantity of the typical nudibranchs of the summer period. Certainly a better situation than last year, but nothing comparable to what I saw until a few years ago.

July

There were a lot of Cratena peregrina and Flabellina affinis as in the old days, but unfortunately few other nudibranchs and crustaceans. From mid-month, it was possible to see again Calmella cavolini and some other old acquaintances, that were missing for quite some time.

August

The quantity of nudibranchs dropped and there was poor visibility as well. I had to focus on the cracks and look under the rocks.

September

There was still poor visibility and the three species of nudibranchs that populate the walls till the end of August, practically disappeared. Luckily, the main protagonists of our sea let themselves be photographed without escaping… they know how important it is for me to look through some images at home during winter.

The positive aspect of 2023 was the huge quantity of some of the most typical nudibranch species in our area. Unfortunately, the negative aspect was the shortage of underwater life that has been occurring in recent years.
Come on then, 2024 surprise me!!!!!
