GALAPAGOS – diving in the dream

From Santa Cruz to Darwin and back.

When you dream about the beauty of a place for a long time, it may happen that it didn’t meet your expectations, but this time the reality has exceeded the dream. It’s really difficult for me to describe the emotion I felt during the first dive and it is even more difficult to describe the emotions experienced during all the other dives. This was one of those rare occasions when I didn’t photograph so much, because I was so fascinated by what I saw that I couldn’t concentrate on shooting.

In the Santa Cruz area, because of the habit and because of the marine environment, the attention was concentrated on the sand and the rocks.

Dive after dive, gradually, eyes and interest moved on the schools of fishes that were continuously swimming all around, between the reef and the open ocean.

In the far north at Darwin and Wolf the bleu enchanted your gaze and then along the way back arrived the surprise of the contrast between the occidental coast and the oriental coast in the north of Isabela. Punta Vicente Roca and the Cromwell Current with its upwelling of green water full of plankton at 16 degrees, Cabo Marshall and the Panama Current with water at 27 degrees that remind you that right there is the equator.

Finally after so many years of waiting, the Galapagos Islands!
The stage of an incredible natural show, that goes on above and below the ocean tirelessly.
